You have to remember, lock-on and context-sensitive buttons didn't exist before OoT implemented them. I think it's had a lasting influence in that sense, as both those features are pretty standard by now.

Of course, whenever any game is called 'perfect', someone is overrating it. I'm aware of that. However, I don't think anyone can argue with someone claiming a certain game is their 'favourite'!

Have you played OoT?

Would you say this OoT is overrated then?
Considering it's influences haven't shone through to this generation that much?

Well, considering I talk about the lock-on system, the context sensitive buttons, which have become conventional features in modern games, I think I've spoken about the game's influence, albeit briefly.

To be honest this is more of a personal review. You're right in saying I could dissect the game a bit more, but in a way that's slightly redundant, given how archaic the gameplay and progression is now, and would impact badly upon my mostly positive review.

No, if it's a RETRO review i'd like to know what influences the game's had on more recent games. I'd like to know why the game was so big and highly rated and i'd like to know why i should buy it if i haven't played it yet. Not the entire story.

so what's the difference between a review and a narration? I mean, you need to know something about the game if you're going to buy it. Read any book review these days and the reviewers always tell you the story as well as giving you critical feedback. I mean, what do you want? A review that tells you it's great but gives you no details or one that tells the story too?

This isn't a review, it's just someone narrating the game.

Try harder
