The peripheral craze may have all but died out, but it ended with a bang rather than whimper. Rock Band 3 was awesome and brought us one of the most brilliantly unexpected videogame controllers we've ever seen. Not only does the keyboard make for outstanding virtual jams, but it also functions as a MIDI controller and boasts a two-octave keybed. The MIDI output connector "provides compatibility with MIDI software sequencers and hardware devices." Erm, so, it's pretty good value too.

The MIDI controller/converter, Pro Drum Kit, Keyboard and Fender Rockband Guitar (the real one with strings that works when plugged into an amp) are the greatest additions to the music-game genre of all time. The MIDI controller is why I can practice the actual notes of songs on my electro-kit.

Rock Band has gone leaps and bounds beyond anything Guitar Hero tried.

Yeah. I have yet to get this midi controller but it is on my list of things to do.

Any idea where I can pick one up cheap? I guess e-bay by now?

Na, it looks like Amazon are stocking them now ~£30!

I forked out £40 for mine when they came out (I actually bought two, so I spent £80 -- was worried they'd sell out and never come back in stock in case one broke down).

At about £30, they're a bargain, and thank God they're still available.

Thanks dude. Will look into it.

Have been spending my music time back on real guitar but missing drums a lot.
