DLC transfer & legacy instruments confirmed
Boom. Drop the mic. Then pick it up and sing into it.
After weeks of rumours, Rock Band 4 has been announced for PS4 and Xbox One, and it's pretty much the best case scenario we could have hoped for.
Though details are thin on the ground, Harmonix have revealed that Rock Band 4 will release this year, powered by a new engine and offering over 2000 songs.
More excitingly, however, Harmonix are doing their best to ensure that our old peripherals are supported, meaning that we presumably won't have to shell out loads more money on more plastic axes, mics and drums. This is an absolute coup, since we were concerned that the cost of buying new instruments would have stopped the comeback before it started.
Of course, there will be new instruments should you need them. Take a look:
What's more, the DLC side of things is sewn up too. "Content purchased from the store or exported from a disc will transfer over to the new generation of consoles at not addition cost as we make that content available," Harmonix explains, though it's worth noting that you can naturally only transfer over from PS3 -> PS4 or Xbox 360 -> Xbox One.
We'll keep you up to date with the latest details. Is what I would say if I was attempting to maintain professional detachment, but instead, I'd like to add that I'm so freaking ready. What about you?
