Although the peripheral-based music game might no longer capture the imagination in the way it once did, Harmonix's steady stream of DLC for Rock Band has been a thing of joy for those who, like many of us here at Dealspwn, can't resist picking up the old plastic guitar every once in a while and busting out some RAWWWK!
But alas, around 4000 songs on from the original release of Rock Band back in 2005, the DLC well is about to dry up.
Harmonix have announced that April 2nd will see the last weekly DLC release for Rock Band.
"We hope that you'll all agree that this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it's a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of," came the message on the official forum.
"We're incredibly proud of the DLC milestones we've set, especially producing the largest music library of any game available, and we wouldn't have been able to release as much outstanding content without the support of our amazing community."
The website and forums will remain open and available, and there's a rather large half-price sale on DLC that's currently ongoing.
"Whether you waited in line for a midnight release of Rock Band over five years ago, or you just joined the party with Rock Band Blitz... whether you've downloaded every single song we've ever released, or you've just played on-disc songs until your neighbours moved away... whether you're a metal shredder, or a bubblegum pop singer... thank you for being a part of our band," Harmonix wrote.
Thank you, Harmonix.
