New Rocksmith Trailer Invites "Great Guitarists" To Check Out The Game

Matt Gardner
Hard-Fi, Music games, Rocksmith, Ubisoft

..Starting With Hard-Fi

Say the words "great guitarists" to someone and you'll be met with a list that will almost certainly at feature one of the following: Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, James Hetfield, Mark Tremonti, Mark Knopfler, Slash, and so on. As nice a chap as he might be, we're not sure Hard-Fi's Ross Phillips would be on our list.

However, Phillips trotted along to Gibson Guitar Studio London to check out Ubisoft's Rocksmith to check out the game and the video above is the result.

To be honest, we can't really imagine Clapton taking too kindly to being stood in front of a game geared around turning you into a rock god when he's one already. Plus he's a bit of a grouchy soul.

More details in our Rocksmith hands-on preview.

Clapton has good reason to be grouchy though.

I can't wait for this, though don't care for Hard-Fi.

This is true...and yes, we can't wait for this either!

Maybe I can finally upgrade from being a sh*t guitarist to being mediocre instead.

Yep same. I started again recently and have been struggling to relearn and play Metallica solos that I could do easily years ago.

It's not like riding a bike. More like riding a bike at an Olympic event. After years of no training you can still do it, but you suck.

Had this for just over 3 months now (imported the 360 version) and it's awesome :)
Also purchased the Bass DLC a couple of days ago. It's a great teaching tool and still fun even if you're a guitarist or bassist who has been playing for years as it sees how well you're doing and adjusts the gameplay to your level of expertise.

I have to say, that wasn't the most convincing endorsement of a game I've ever seen. Ross didn't look entirely sure if it was a good way to learn guitar and you could see where they had edited bits out so it would be interesting to know his real thoughts.

Having said all that, I am looking forward to this game.

Thanks TanyaSpace... good to know.

I actually recommended it to a few friends (I only do that when I'm sure it's a good product), they're all really looking forward to it now.
