Following the runaway success of Angry Birds, Rovio has announced that their next game will focus on the much-maligned porcine egg stealers... or Bad Piggies to most people. Instead of splattering the hapless pigs with a giant catapult, this new title will provide a "totally new experience" when it releases later this month.
Gameplay details are still thin on the ground, though Fast Company reports that gameplay revolves around "building vehicles and contraptions" to allow the pigs to escape a desert island. What we can tell you is that Bad Piggies is taking aim at a 27th September release date on iOS and Android, followed by Windows Phone 7, Windows 8 and PC versions.
"There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?" said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. "Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes."
"We’ve had a lot of fun creating a totally new and unique gameplay experience," added EVP Petri Järvilehto"There’s so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what’s going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs."
