Best RPG - Amalur vs Dragon Age?

ohlookitsdave |  Aug. 8, 2012 at 17:34

Looking for a new RPG fix, which one should I go for. Usually play as a mage. Like the look of Amalur's combat but a friend recommended Dragon Age Origins to me? Is the story for Amalur any good?

Amalur is good but very easy and after a few hours really drags.
Dragon age gets better and better although make sure you do every quest since it can be quite hard and there is no post game and you can't go back.

I preferred dragon age 1 & 2 but it will be personal preference, amalur has a demo so try it first ....

Dragon Age Origins is one of the best modern RPGs out there. Fact. Amalur is a good shout, but the world is really really generic, and though the combat is very good (combat mage is awesome), don't get it if you're after a good story...because there isn't one.

Personally, I'd vote for putting both of those aside and playing through The Witcher 1 and 2 if you haven't already.

Never Dragon Age 2, mind.

Just wrote a great post, but this crap webform ate it.

Basically said I don't agree with Dragon Age Origins, while its good, the dwarvern caves section was way too long, dragged out, boring and ruined the game for me. After that I just wanted it to end.

I'm playing through Amalur/Dragons dogma at the moment, both are good, with great combat mechanics and character development (love dogmas pawn system, but it cheapens the game if your friend has a great/high level pawn) but still flawed (Amalur too uninspiring, Dogma too small).

Deffo buying Witcher 2 when I've finished those two
