A couple of notable images have surfaced, reportedly from a Best Buy employee newsletter, that suggest the next Assassin's Creed title will take place in revolutionary America.
It's worth noting that this hasn't been corroborated yet, but a Best Buy worker reportedly handed Kotaku two images from the company's employee news section.
One of the pictures reportedly announces that Ubisoft will be unveiling Assassin's Creed III on March 5th, along with some details on pre-order bonuses.
The other is replicated below, and is allegedly the new game's first piece of promotional art. Kotaku notes that "in the background is the original Continental flag, the Assassin is wearing an 18th-century military jacket and from his weaponry, jewellery and resemblance to actor Wes Studi he appears to be Native American. Or, since you'd expect he's still part of hero Desmond's bloodline, half-Native American."
Ubisoft have already teased a "major" announcement for Assassin's Creed, saying that big news is only "days away" on the series' official Facebook page, which would fit the March 5th timeframe.
That tantalising tidbit also suggested that fans keep an eye on the official assassin’s Creed website for an update later today.
My flatmate predicted this back in November and has been gloating all morning. The full rumoured promo image is below:
