Rumour: Captain Price Voice Actor Outs Modern Warfare 4

Billy Murray, the voice actor behind Captain Price (also him off The Bill and those legal adverts) may have outed the next Modern Warfare game in development at Infinity Ward.

UPDATE: Infinity Ward has denied these claims in a brusque statement.

“Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4," Murray ostensibly told thisisXbox.com, while unaware that he was talking to a journalist. "I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…”

Right. Okay then.

If the report is accurate, this is about as blatant as premature reveals get. Activision and Infinity Ward won't be looking to officially reveal the next Call Of Duty game until after the release of Black Ops II, but it will be interesting to see what the next episode offers - and what console generation it aims for. With DICE now breathing down their necks, Infinity Ward will probably need to seriously step things up in both the graphics and gameplay department.

I really hope he was talking rubbish. MW3 finished up the whole story, I don't see how they can carry it one without messing it up. Also we need a new series rather than "Modern Warfare" every 2 years. I like the MW series but something different would be nice.

Then again, I don't suppose any of this matters as I doubt I'll be buying another game made by Infinity Ward after how they ruined MW3 multiplayer with FMG9s, horrible hit detection, bad networking and the worst spawn system I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing which just got worse with every tweak they made to it.

After IW's last three releases being Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3 the shock news is their next will be Modern Warfare 4?
Wow. What a shocker.
What next? Exclusive insider info that the game will be released in November 2013?

Fingers crossed it's on the nextbox and ps4, and utilising a brand new engine. I won't hold my breath, though...

Heh. To be honest, I was a little surprised. As GetsugaTenshoS said, MW3 finished the story arc, so I rather expected a reboot or refresh rather than a numerical series. To be honest, it still could be considering the unofficial nature of Murray's comment, but the brand definitely still has a lot of clout.

Agreed, I'm hoping that it's in development for next-gen hardware with a new engine and some much-needed innovation - whether this report is accurate or not.

I'm confused as to why they need him to provide voice acting. Surely there's no point when they will just pretend that the single player universe doesn't exist anyway.

Zing.

I really hope it's a prequel centered around Captain Price's backstory, MW0 perhaps?
