Currently in the process of reviving the gaming fortunes of a certain Ms. Croft, it looks like Crystal Dynamics might well be preparing to resurrect undead action classic Soul Reaver too.
According to VG247, a source "has claimed the game is a full reworking of the vampire action classic, and includes a new art direction".
As the report notes, it's unclear as to whether the lead will be taken by Kain - the nobleman-turned-vampire, whose name forms the title of the series as a whole - or vampiric wraith Raziel, who was the main protagonist in the original Soul Reaver game.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, the first game in the series, released on PlayStation way back in 1996, with Soul Reaver dropping on PlayStation and PC in 1999, with a Dreamcast release in 2000. Following that, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 was released in 2001 on PS2 and PC, with Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain arriving in 2002, and Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003 for PC, PS2, and Xbox.
