RUMOUR: Halo 2 Anniversary Edition In Development

Can we expect to see Halo 2 given the anniversary treatment in the same fashion as it's predecessor? Well, a new report would suggest that's very much on the cards.

It makes sense. If you only have about three franchise cash cows that you own, you've got to milk them for all that they're worth.

Another concise tidbit from the rumour pages of the latest OXM (via CVG), the tantalising-yet-brief blurb reads as such:

"Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary," the magazine claims.

Halo 4 is currently set for release this November, but a quick spruce of Halo 2 would certainly help to ensure that the return of Master Chief reaps maximum profits.

Plus we're pretty sure that there'd be lots of people eager to dive into a shinier version of Halo 2. Right?

Maybe they could add a polished Halo 3 into the mix too and rid themselves of that infuriating cliffhanger in the process.

Am I the only person who like Halo 2? I felt and still feel as thought it was the best in the trilogy, but still the internet disagrees with me anyone else feel the same?

@Shadowmancer88: I like Halo 2 well enough, but arguably only in parts. The New Mombasa missions are brilliant (especially the Bridge run), the assault on Delta Halo is awesome (suck it down, Regret!) and... well... the Master Chief sections are pretty awesome.

Personally, though, I feel that the Arbiter levels really slowed things down (along with the slightly arduous mission on High Charity), and I could have done with just one more Master Chief level at the end to bring it home.

love Halo2, arbiter levels less so but the other parts are so amazing that I really don't care.

Back on topic I am just playing the halo anniversary edition. Dear god am I disappointed! The grx are awful, some of the updated textures are nice but its too bright, too shiny and has lost the charm the graphical style had in the original - the moody darkness, the futuristic meets ancient installations the backgrounds. I find myself constantly switching back to the old engine and thinking it's old but hell its STILL better. Also they have tweaked things here n there, I don't agree with that! Why? Then there's the 're-mastered' music, It often just doesn't seem to fit. I'm not saying its bad - its good. It just doesn't fit in places where it truly different from the original. The best example of this is the snipe-ing element before heading up to the covenant ship to rescue keyes. It was too loud and brash for the scene where you supposed to be sneaking (which it seemed on the remake, was impossible to avoid detection before the first shot..). Its also ALOT easier than the original. Anyways that's what I've found so far so that being the case I'm starting to worry about Halo4 and especially a Halo2 remake...
