Sony's gamesmanship was cracking. First came Kaz Hirai, scoffing at the notion that Sony might be concerned with going first. Then came the news that Sony were readying a reveal for as early as February. Finally, on Wednesday, Sony lifted the lid on their plans for next gen.
For the story to be any good, Microsoft must now be scrabbling around furiously to cobble together some sort of a comeback in the hopes of not losing ground to their competitor ahead of conventions season.

Yes, this has come from the creaking rumour mill. A filthy hive of anonymity and broad speculation, where you have to trust that other sites aren't just churning out fabrications that they've dreamt up on the loo.
But it sounds good doesn't it. According to CVG, "A growing number of developers and other industry professionals, some of which are Sony employees, have told CVG that Microsoft will reveal its next generation Xbox for the first time in April."
"We definitely ruffled some feathers," a Sony rep is reported to have said.
With both Nintendo and Sony positioning themselves for an E3 where the games will form the centrepiece of their offerings, perhaps Microsoft are hopeful of at least getting their hardware chat out of the way ahead of the trade show. VG247' sources have also pointed towards an April event.
