RUMOUR: New Populous Game On The Way?

A tenacious NeoGaf user claims to have uncovered a mysterious site titled labelled “EAP Marketing FY13 Home Page”, created by someone called "pmarineau" [a Phil Marineau is listed as EA's director of marketing], after having discovered that Insomniac Games recently registered the title Outernauts as well as the domain names outernauts-game.com and outernauts-game.net.

The NeoGAF user claims to have stumbled upon a list of game titles on the site, some of which have already been confirmed, and some of which have not: The Secret World; Overstrike; Populous; Outernauts; Respawn. The site in question has since been cleared of all information.

The Secret World and Overstrike are both well documented and under development from Funcom and Insomniac respectively, and Respawn (West and Zampella's new studio) have been beavering away on an unannounced FPS for some time.

Outernauts, however, has not been heard of before, and could possibly point towards a new title on which the team who delivered on Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One might be working.

Populous should need no introduction, with the Bullfrog god-sim being yet another Peter Molyneux classic. EA have just updated one of his older works along with Starbreeze in the shape of Syndicate, and they do own the property rights to Populous. Could this spell a return? There's been no confirmed news so we'll have to wait and see.

As usual, rumours should be taken with liberal amounts of salt. And pepper. And a pinch of paprika.

I would love a Populous remake leading onto a Powermonger remake as well.

Let me guess, you're a God, but in human form, and you run thru levels shooting things from a first person perspective.

Honestly, what the hell happened to Syndicate? By all means let these people make FPS games, but don't give them well loved old titles to update if all they're going to do is change the title screen from 'Generic FPS'.

Same thing happened to Shadowrun. I still for the life of me can't see how either of these games ended up as a tedious shooter, except that the meetings went 'CoD sells well, right?' 'Yeah' 'Off you go then, meeting over.'

Yeah I'd probably just be happy with HD remake of the original
