A rumour has surfaced suggesting that Sony will be announcing a partnership with one of the two largest cloud gaming services at E3 this year, heralding the arrival of streamed games on PlayStation hardware.
VG247's Pat Garratt went live this afternoon stating that although "details are light", "Sony is to announce a cloud gaming deal with either Gaikai or OnLive at E3, apparently allowing streamed games on PlayStation hardware".
Way back in January, a spokesperson for Gaikai suggested that one of the major platform holders would announce a shift in direction, and that E3 was the place where it would all go down, with speculation rife that Gaikai had been working with MS or Sony. Could this be the big news cloud gaming has been waiting for?
We'll have Jon on the edge of his seat at the Sony presser on June 4th, waiting to find out.
