Sony has announced LittleBigPlanet 3 as one of the PS4's big Christmas games, and it looks as charming, clunky and brilliant as ever.
The core of building your own levels and designing your own entire games will be present and correct, but this time Sackboy has brought a few mates along for the ride.
Specifically you can play as Oddsock, an adorable sock puppet dog, who can pull off wall jumps to access high platforms. Toggle can switch between a strong heavy form and a tiny light version, using his weight to depress switches and exploit the physics. And then there's Swoop, a bird who can fly and carry the other characters.
Erm... yes. That's some interesting balance right there, but Swoop will come into its own when families play together, since parents can give their kids a literal boost. The platforming looks as cumbersome as ever, mind.
Perhaps more interesting than Sackboy's pals, however, is that every piece of DLC from every previous home console LittleBigPlanet game can be accessed at launch with upgraded visuals. That's a whole heap of incredible content - even before you make your own!
Frankly we're very excited about this -- though we wonder who's developing it.
LittleBigPlanet 3 releases in November and is exactly the kind of game Sony's console needs going into Christmas.
