Should I get Saints Row before Saints Row 2?

Late |  Jul. 7, 2011 at 14:24

I'm toying with getting Saints Row 2, as it's highly regarded and cheap - but having never played either of the SR games should I dive straight in with the second or should I get number 1 first?
(Thanks for scubahenry for reminding me I have somewhere to ask for advice on this!)

I just played the second one. It does follow on from the first game's story, but it's easy to get to grips with. SR2 is a hell of a lot of fun. In short: just buy the second one. :)

Can probably pick up the original cheap as chips now, and in my opinion I'd say yes, play the first before the second, not because the story or anything like that compels you, but more because after playing the second one you wont be able to enjoy the first game as much as if your fresh to the series.
Obviously there are many more things to do and improved graphincs in the second game, so going back WILL be a step backwards, it won't just seem like one/
the first is a good fun game to play and well worth it at the stupidly low cost of the thing these days, but I would say to play them in order, and preferably try to finish SR2 before SR3 hits the shelves, I have heard that you can take some of your SR2 stuff with you into SR3, cant wait for it to drop now :)

Thanks guys - much appreciated :D
Have opted to go straight into the second, and give the first a miss.

Once you have finished you will no doubt be awaiting the third installment as eagerly as I am :)

If I get all the pleasure of SR2 at a fraction of the price most folk paid, and then I only have to wait a few months instead of the few years other folk have had to wait then yeah, I'd definitely say I'm in a good position :D
