"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh Yourself!"

New Serious Sam 3: BFE Screens Show New Art Direction And Old Friend

As a rabid fan of Croteam's manic FPS franchise, I was not alone in my disappointment with Serious Sam 2's overtly humorous art style and tone. Taking this criticism to heart, the Croatian studio is aiming for a grittier and realistic vibe this time around - and to illustrate their new direction, has released some new screenshots of one of Serious Sam's iconic enemies. The beheaded kamikaze. For those who don't know, this terrifying foe is the reanimated corpse of a human warrior who charges at the player whilst screaming from belt-mounted speakers.

As you can see, the new grittier visual style makes the Beheaded Kamikaze look more gory and menacing than ever before... and the same should be true of the whole game itself. More screens after the jump.
