XSEED's enigmatic haiku poems and tweeted tidbits now make perfect sense, as the company have confirmed that they will be bringing Way of the Samurai 4 to North America, as a PS3 exclusive "uncut and uncensored". Rising Star will be handling the European release, slated to drop at some point this year.
The three tweeted clues had been as follows:
- “Wearing a dress you / may seek a horse for revenge / to duel distant foes.”
- “If you crawl nightly / and blind watching eyes, you may / uncover a prize.”
- “Tom suggests that: ‘When in battle, always remember to dock and perry.’”
Now, however, thanks to a post on the US PS Blog, we know that this particular slice of samurai sandbox action will take place in period Japan, just after Admiral Perry has opened the borders completely to the British. It'll be up to the player to decide whether to take the side of the more progressive colonialists, become a centrist arbiter, or drive the foul Westerners from the land by shacking up with freedom fighters - the "Disciples of Prajna".
The last game in the series got something of a critical mauling, hopefully this one will do better.
