Schafer: Million Needed To Develop Psychonauts 2

Double Fine's Kickstarter initiative has already attracted over $1.3 million in a single day (at the time of writing), far outstripping the budget of Day Of The Tentacle and other adventure game projects. However, with Notch's earlier offer to help fund Psychonauts 2 still at the back of our minds, many of us have been wondering how much it would take for Tim Schafer to independently create the sequel. Many gamers even posed the question on Twitter.

And Schafer's answer was simple: "$20MM minus $1MM."

Not a no. Not a go away. Just a number. This isn't a statement of intent, but it is an interesting development and a potential new benchmark - albeit a staggeringly ambitious one. Plus, we really want that new adventure game (though we assume that the "minus $1MM" would be set aside for that project).
