New Screens And Details For Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition

Rugby Challenge had so much potential. It played a fast and furious brand of southern hemisphere rugby, but descended far too often into a structureless free-for-all with few options for organising your team, and little in the way of allowing for tactical intelligence.

A new successor has been announced, however, and Alternative Software are looking to ring the changes for a follow-up, unveiling new details and new screens.

Quick taps, quick lineouts, and driving auls are now in. The breakdown area has been revamped to allow for contested rucks, tactically removing players from the breakdown area, number 8 pickups at scrums and, best of all, "dynamic in-game team strategies".

There's new real-time commentary from Grant Nisbett and former All Black Justin Marshall, along with French language commentary from Eric Bayle and Thomas Lombard, commentating on matches featuring 110+ teams and 50+ stadia from around the world featured including official team, competition, and special match licenses.

And apparently we can expect a whole load more customisation options too.

Video games have never really managed to pull off a nuanced version of the 15-v-15 sport, and RC2's predecessor was a fumbled mess. But we have our fingers crossed for this one.
