Its official reveal will take place on Saturday during this year’s VGA awards, but in the meantime we’ve been given a singular screenshot to mull over for the secretive Sony exclusive The Last of Us, as well as a couple of small updates to the official website to whet our appetite.
The above screenshot of some fauna (and some sneaky Cordyceps, which we’ll get to in a minute) doesn't really give us any hints, but it is reportedly taken from in-game. If this is true we should be expecting to see some highly impressive visuals from the in-game trailer that will emerge on Saturday night. Be sure to click on the picture to see it in all its glory.
That's still not all. By changing the url of the picture slightly a second picture has emerged, although it doesn't appear to be a screenshot. However it does help paint a better picture of the backstory with failing quarantines, defiant presidents, and martial law in England highlighted in the newspaper.
Another new snippet can be found on one of the videos on the official website. A few days ago the website updated with a video of an infected ant dying from the parasitic fungus Cordyceps taken from the BBC series Planet Earth. That video has now been changed for an extended version, which provides an audio clip to further set the tone we can expect from The Last Of Us.
That's it for now. We still don't know what genre of game it will be, or who is developing it. All we really know is that Cordyceps are the cause of the outbreak that brings mankind to its knees in the game (and you learn more about the fungus here) and that it's all looking to be very creepy. We here at Dealspwn are looking forward to seeing what emerges from this weekend's VGAs, and as soon as we hear more we'll be sure to update you.
