Selected EA Games 59p @ iTunes App Store [iPhone Games]

Matt Gardner
EA Mobile, Fifa, Games deals, iPhone, Need for Speed

EA have marked the uber-exciting release of the iPhone 4 with a bit of a sale. For 48 hours only you'll be able to grab a load of the top games from EA Mobile's line for just 59p each. Since the iPhone surprised everyone by blowing open the mobile phone market for games in a way that Nokia's ill-fated N-Gage could have only dreamt of, there's been a wealth of exceptional software for the system. It's gaming, still, that points a way to the brightest future for its big brother the iPad...well, that and knocking the stuffing out of Kindle.

Check out some of the games on offer:

  • Battleship
  • Command & Conquer Red Alert
  • Connect 4
  • Dragon's Lair
  • FIFA10
  • FIFA World Cup
  • Jewel Quest
  • Madden NFL
  • NBA Live
  • Need for Speed: Shift
  • SimCity
  • Surviving High School
  • The Game of Life
  • Tiger Woods PGA
  • Trivial Pursuit
  • Yahtzee

On any other handset, and trust me I was misguided enough to test this out on my cripplingly bad touchscreen brick, a large number of mobile games simply prove to be utterly mediocre at best and capillary-bustingly broken at worst. There's a bunch of games to shrug at here, but there are a few exceptions that may well warrant your wonga. The two FIFA games work surprisingly well on iPhone, although not as well as Tiger Woods. Jewel Quest and CnC: Red Alert are both excellent choices as well, although the latter is by far more suited to the larger scale of the iPad and Need For Speed looks awesome, handles even better and makes fantastics use of the accelerometer. Whatever your preference, at this price you can pretty much afford to be wrong.
