The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

Tamsin Oxford

These characters have had gamers groaning for more as they’ve leapt and fought and sashayed across our displays, it’s time to reveal the top ten digital darlings.

Not all game characters are created equal. Some possess a certain je ne sais quoi that inspires us to visit them time and time again. So who are these virtual crushes, these men and women who cause our dilapidated gamer hearts to tremble with delight? In no particular order, here those sexy creatures are...

The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

Lara Croft

(Tomb Raider series, 1996-present)

Ah yes, of course, the brazen beauty with the tiny shorts and the, ahem, plentiful assets – the indomitable Lara Croft.  This wealthy adventuress has caused male hearts to flutter ever since she first grabbed her own set of pixels in 1996 and, thirteen years later, she remains the undisputed queen of the virtual femmes.  Tough, uncompromising, smart and sassy, she isn’t a fainting flower simpering in the background when the action starts - she’s usually the one that started the fight in the first place. Having Angelina Jolie play her in the movies hasn’t exactly done her reputation any harm either, the two are synonymous with sex and style.

Sam FisherThe Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(Splinter Cell series, 2002-present)

Sam Fisher has to be the sexiest male game character around. Dark, brooding and mysterious, he is the ultimate Alpha Male. His voice, perfectly cast in Michael Ironside, is like gravel wrapped in velvet. Few female gamers can resist the sound of his voice whispering in their ears as they game into the late hours of the night. The newest instalment, Conviction, due out next year will certainly add to his reputation as he escapes the confines of his black suit and goggles.  Who wouldn’t want to die by the hand of Sam Fisher?

The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

Gordon Freeman

(Half Life series, 1998-present)

From the moment he picked up that crowbar Gordon Freeman became the stud of the gaming world. He said goodbye to being a science nerd and hello to saviour of the human race. Heart pounding action, intense music and nasty aliens conspired together to place Gordon squarely beside Sam Fisher in the sexy stakes.

Agent 47The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(Hitman series, 2000-present)

He’s bald, he’s angry and he’s dressed to kill. Agent 47 is one of the few game characters that knows how to get the most out of a designer suit and tie, and he’s wonderfully stoic and resilient. You won’t hear him whine or complain as he confidently eliminates the opposition. When he asks you out to paint the town red, he probably won’t be playing around with clichés.

RayneThe Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(Bloodrayne series, 2002- present)

A half human-half vampire hybrid reminiscent of Blade, Rayne is not to be trifled with and therein lies her ultimate appeal.  This powerful red-haired beauty is interested only in ridding the world of evil and has little tolerance for fools.  Gamers love her slim lines and toned physique as much as they do her attitude and leather-wrapped style.

Blood ElvesThe Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(World of Warcraft, 2004)

Yeah, we all know about World of Warcraft, the world’s most famous MMORPG and we also know that people play without breaking for food or rest. So, if you’re going to spend all day staring at a pixellated butt, surely it should be any one of the female blood elves introduced by the first expansion pack, Burning Crusade? These curvaceous blonde babes sashay their way across the fantastic WoW landscapes without breaking a nail or mussing their hair. Yes, they deserve a spot in the sexiest game character rankings for sure.

Dead or Alive GirlsThe Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(Dead or Alive, 1996-present)

If you simply Google the term “Dead or Alive girls” you’ll be stunned by the volume of websites and images dedicated to these sexy ladies that can fight their way out of several paper bags at once. Every gamer has his (or her!) own particular favourite that they love to watch as they chop, charge and kick their way across the screen. Pretty, petite and startlingly violent, the Dead or Alive girls are very much, ahem, alive.

Jill ValentineThe Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

(Resident Evil, 1996-present)

There’s been a nasty outbreak and there’s a lot of nasty stuff going down so who do you turn to at this moment of crisis? Well, if Gordon or Sam aren’t around due to their busy schedules, why not whistle in the services of the super sassy, sexy Jill Valentine. Jill is a seductive concoction made with equal parts of femininity, fighter and a dash of whisky. As her outfits become increasingly skimpy with each instalment, she gains more and more devoted fans, happy to lose themselves in her world for a few blissful hours.

The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

James Sutherland

(Silent Hill II, 2001)

His chiselled jaw and rugged good looks, alongside his rather lovely wardrobe, have made James as much in demand has his military-style jacket. While not the most stable of sex icons, James is cool with an intense attitude.

The Sexiest Game Characters, Ever

Lee Chaolan

(Tekken, 1994-present)

Silver haired and silver tongued, this sexy game character holds many of his female fans in thrall. He moves like a tiger and his eyes spell “wicked” when they catch you in their sights. Not only is he so very, very pretty, he’s also rich and good with a rapier.

Did we miss out on your favourite? Is there another digital delectable hiding behind a monitor somewhere that we need to unearth and expose? Post your favourites right here.

I played a lot of Half Life, but never found myself physically attracted to Gordon Freeman :D

I'd rather have Solid Snake over an ol' grey Sam Fisher any day.

Poor crop of guys.

Tamsin Oxford  Sep. 9, 2009 at 15:21

Ah, sorry to have disappointed you ladies with my choices. I'll be sure to include your choices in the next run...

Sam Bell  Sep. 9, 2009 at 18:05

Those blood elves look kind of scary. Kratos from God of War would be a better baldy than Agent 47 i reckon. But then again i'm a guy, so what do i know!

Ares  Sep. 9, 2009 at 18:22

Aww man, no Joanna Dark? I personally always liked her better than Lara.

Fuzia  Sep. 9, 2009 at 18:40

Blood Elves? Seriously? I'd understand if they weren't incredibly malnourished looking. Seriously they are horribly skinny.

Your momma  Sep. 9, 2009 at 22:55

James SuNDerland.

Nada Nuff  Sep. 9, 2009 at 23:25

Yeah, I'll say it...a separate list for both men and women would have been nice, if only to get more choices in. Still, five for both sides isn't bad, so I'm not complainin'. Maybe we'll get a decent polygonal Mai one day, one that will make us drool.

Emma Kelly  Sep. 9, 2009 at 23:36

Oh I just remembered - I found Guybrush Threepwood quite dashing!

I can't believe you missed out metal gear solid!! There's both guys and girls in that game that shouldn't be missed from a list like this, not that I'm saying I go both ways lol

Eva, Meryl, Naomi, Solid Snake, Raiden, and have you ever seen the women the bosses from MGS4 were based on??? :o
