If you're a massive Shrek fan, to the extent that you wish to spend your hard earned cash on the videogame that accompanies the latest film then I have great news; Tesco Entertainment is currently selling the PS3 version of Shrek: Forever After for just over £20!
Even better, if you have not yet used the voucher that seems to have been doing the rounds forever, then you can get the price down to just £17.83, nearly a tenner less than the next best price of £27.35 from Amazon.
To knock off a few extra pounds just use the following voucher code: FTSL15-1
Even the best movies tend to produce shoddy video games, punched out as quickly as possible with nice low production costs to keep profits high. Unfortunately the latest instalment in the "most successful animated movie series of all time" is far from one of the best movies. In fact, I was shocked and slightly amused to discover that on Metacritic the tie-in game has actually received a higher aggregate score than the film itself.
Even so, I would recommend approaching the game with plenty of caution. While it's arguably better than the, by virtually all accounts, howler of a film and most other movie tie-ins, it's still far from a masterpiece.
There does seem to be some fun to be gleaned from the title, especially for kids. The main campaign can be played by up to four players in co-op but unfortunately there's no online option so if you're playing alone you'll have to switch between characters to get everything done. Furthermore there's not a whole lot to the gameplay and the run-of-the-mill combat quickly becomes tedious.
Like the film, Shrek: Forever After is probably best avoided unless you're a real Shrekophile.
