Akira Yamaoka, he of Silent Hill fame, hasn't played Downpour, but when told of the latest game's action and combat-oriented focus, he laughed and simply stated "Silent Hill isn't about fighting".
We couldn't agree more.
Asked if he'd continue to make music games in the vein of Rebuild of Evangelion: Sound Impact, Yamaoka said that it was possible, though probably best suited to digital platforms, stating that it was "horror games" that he'd be most interested in as Grasshopper's chief creative officer.
Yamaoka also revealed that he doesn't think "packaged games will die out, but Steam has a lot of potential since it works with different hardware", adding that Grasshopper were indeed looking into digital distribution for their titles, but that those that did make it onto Steam or Origin would be "new games" rather than re-releases.
