Sinister Director & Writer Lined Up For Deus Ex: Human Revolution Film

'Deus Ex Will Make One Hell Of A Movie'

Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) will direct the Deus Ex: Human Revolution film adaptation.

According to a report from Deadline New York, CBS Films signed Derrickson to write the Deus Ex screenplay alongside C. Robert Cargill, alongside directing duties. Derrickson reportedly only agreed to the project after completing the game, of which he's now a massive fan.

"Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”

This news follows the confirmation that Michael Fassbender will star in an Assassin's Creed film, while Tom Hardy has been attached to a Splinter Cell adaptation.

At the risk of sounding incredibly trite, we didn't ask for this.

Oh joy. I'm definitely gonna have to buy the extended bluray edition that'll show all the alternative endings...

Fantastic game (marred by boss fights and the completely flat promise of alternate endings depending on the choices you make) - don't spoil it by making the film, CBS. Just lock those film rights away in a safe, and lose the key.

Agreed - awesome game, would make a terrible film.

I've only played the start of the game so can't really make an informed opinion but I think a film set in the Deus Ex world could be good, not necessarily a film of the game though.
