Skills For Kills, Agent! Crackdown finally confirmed for Xbox One

Crackdown is indeed coming to the Xbox One, confirmed today by a suitably ridiculous CG trailer during Microsoft's E3 press conference.

Expect killing criminals with guns, destructible buildings, killing criminals by throwing cars at them, a variety of vehicles, killing goons by blowing them up and generally inflicting as much insane police brutality as possible in a massive cel-shaded playground.

Hopefully. Series creator Dave Jones and Scottish studio Cloudgine have yet to show us any gameplay, but frankly we've been waiting long enough. Let's have it. I've just gotta get those pendulous orbs.

Fantastic news that Crackdown is coming to the One. :D

I'm a little confused as to whether it's a new game or a remake of the first one, though.

(That said, I'm still not sure whether Crackdown 2 was a new game or a remake of the original!)

I loved the map in the first game, but we need a new playground - not the same one the times...

I assume that it's... kind of a reboot... based on the first game but bigger... maybe?

I am concerned that excessive force may have been used here. A summons may have sufficed and reduced costs for the hardworking taxpayers.

It looks like it's a sequel not a reboot. It has one of the criminal gangs that were in the 1st game but it mentions that the boss shown in the trailer has done better than his colleague in Pacific City, implying that this takes place else where. I thought that it was an interest approach that the 1st and 2nd games shared the same map (albeit modified by time) but obviously they needed something bigger this time. Also I wonder if we'll have mutants this time around...

I have to say that of all the games that have come out or been announced this makes me want to buy ah XBone the most!

@DrDre: Agreed. A couple of community support officers and an ASBO would have done the trick.

@TungstenShark: I'm hoping for a sequel.

Also, I'm hoping that mutants don't make a comeback. Would much rather face off against more interesting human opponents -- mech suits and crazy vehicles would float my boat.

Having now rewatched the Crackdown trailer it seems I misheard first time. I thought we were still in Pacific City, but clearly we're not.
Result :D
