Reverge Labs' hardcore 2D fighter - Skullgirls - has surpassed expectations and smashed through the 50K sales barrier in just ten days. Touted long before release as a competition fighter that would be making the rounds on tournament circuits, Skullgirls is still awaiting release on the European PSN store, making the achievement even more impressive.
Though it had its fair share of doubters, the niche title has done very well indeed. In our Skullgirls review we wrote that "Skullgirls is a sensational fighter that deserves to take the competitive/pro scene by storm. It packs more profound balance, greater flexibility and smoother animations than most games thrice its price, and Reverge Labs deserve to be congratulated wholeheartedly for their momentous achievement. If you love fighting games, be sure to treat yourself as soon as possible."
In fact, it's been a good few days all round for marketplace titles, with RedLynx's Trials Evolution - the follow-up to XBLA's smash hit of 2009 - breaking the 100K barrier in just one day.
