It's Skyrim. It's amazing. And on PC there are a whole host of mods to enable you to pretty much do anything you want, which are super easy top install and get up and running thanks to Steam Workshop. Thanks to jaystan @ HUKD!

Thanks for posting.
For my current RPG fix I'm plowing through KOTOR for the first time having heard stories of its greatness. I guess I can wait till the next steam sale.

Let us know how you find KOTOR! So much love for that game, but interested to see if it still holds up for someone new to it.

Happy to report I'm really enjoying it! (battling arch enemy Lord Revan on the starship at the mo, which might be towards the end?)

Being a HUGE fan of Mass Effect, I'm quite suprised how little the basic Bioware RPG gameplay model has changed since KOTOR. The biggest improvements I note are in the writing, voice acting and the sense one's choices matter during the game matter.

Conclusion: KOTOR is a bona fide classic, not just because it's a fantastic game (it has aged very well) but because it is so loyal to the mythos of the star wars universe. The Mass Effect universe, as wonderfully realised as it is, will always struggle to be as magical to this old star wars fan.
