Thanks to the latest issue of The Official Xbox Magazine, we have more juicy Duke Nukem Forever news to sink our teeth into. Namely, multiplayer! DNF will feature four multiplayer modes, with up to eight Dukes duking it out in Dukematch and Team Dukematch, or duking for objective-supremacy in Hail to the King. However, the mode that most likely to garner a little attention is Capture the Babe, where you must restrain a manic female with a "reassuring slap".
Randy Pitchford, head of Gearbox Software who took it upon themselves to finally finish DNF, has already invited the fairer sex's rage by "welcoming feminist anger". That said, Pitchford was only jesting that if "some feminist organization can get some advantage by using Duke, go for it!" But to then include a mode where players jostle to control a female character who "freaks out" and must then be "slapped" is pushing it a little.
Gearbox were quick to step in when this news hit that the Duke only slaps her on the "butt" as opposed to the face. Either way, I think DNF - and Gearbox in particular - are going to be on the receiving end of some serious media flak when the game hits in May. [Joystiq]
