Sonic Colours vs Sonic Generations

lazerbyte |  Dec. 8, 2011 at 16:32

Had some people say that Colours might actually be better all-round?

it depends entirely on what you're looking for. Sonic Generations is a good way to reflect upon a patchy series and, typically, that patchiness transfers to Generations. Some of the re-interpreted levels are horrible, some are plain lazy, some (like including a Sonic Colours level only a year after release) don't make any sense. It's a tighter game, though, particularly on consoles and a few levels - Green Hill,Sky Sanctuary, Chemical Plant and City Escape - are really very good.

But it's Colours that offers the best roadmap for the future. It's the best Sonic game of the decade because it balances out speed against platforming almost perfectly. The overall level design is, arguably, the decade's best and the Wisps augment and enhance the gameplay rather than detracting from it. After a gimmick-ridden few years, Colours was an evolution of sorts.

Oh...and it's better than New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Lol, that's ridiculous and almost any review will agree with me. Generations is much better, they nailed the classic sonic psychics and tweaked the 3D sonic to give a better sense of speed, its the best its ever been. I think more levels would have set the game off for a higher score but there is DLC coming soon. Its a great game and as a die hard sonic fan I will say it again; it's better than colours.

Colours is a much better game due to Generations horrible 2D levels.

"Generations horrible 2D levels"

The mentally retarded shouldn't be allowed to post on these boards. Sonic is many, many times better in 2D than 3D. I would guess from your statement, that you are below the age of 16.

Actually i'm 26 and love the old 2D levels, the ones in Generations were poor with some awfully bad level design.

I agree colors is better, and isn't it longer? Generations is too damned short
I want the tight controls of generations with the balance and ingenuity of colours BUT IT NEEDS TO HAVE THE DEPTH of a game like sonic 06. Not menus for levels, but an expansive explorable world!
