Sony have announced that BBC Sport will be bringing a dedicated app to PS3 this summer, just in time for a spot of lawn tennis and, of course, the Olympics.
The BBC Sport app, will be launching on Bravia TVs and PS3s to be ready for Wimbledon 2012, and will sit pretty alongside the BBC iPlayer and BBC News apps.
“Televised sport is one of the biggest rating wins for broadcasters," said Sony's category development manager for Bravia, Edd Uzzell.
"This truly is a killer app and will provide a substantial amount of additional sporting content that you can’t get through the current broadcasting model. We strongly believe this will kick-start more widespread usage of the connected television offering, providing sport fans using the app with in-depth big-screen coverage of their favourite events.
“The app will also have extensive penetration in the UK thanks to its availability on PlayStation 3.”
Considering that at massive sporting party is hitting our shores this summer, BBC Sport app will be giving audiences access to 2,500 hours of Olympics content and up to 24 simultaneous live events in delicious HD.
