Sony Deny Hirai Presidential Report

We reported over the weekend that there'd been rumblings, specifically in Japanese paper Nikkei, that Sony were planning on replacing existing president Howard Stringer with Kaz Hirai.

Sony have since denied the report, with spokesperson Shiro Kambe saying that nothing has been finalised and that the company board is still considering its options.

Nikkei had reported that Kaz Hirai would be replace Howard Stringer as Sony president as early as April of this year, although Stringer would retain his roles as chairman and CEO. Hirai has been promoted twice, now serving as Vice-President, and was the apologetic face of the company after the PSN crisis last year.
