Did Sony just tease new God Of War for E3?

Probably.

All eyes are on Twitter in the run-up to E3 2014 next week, desperately searching for any hints of any hints. So when Sony Santa Monica blurted out the following, pretty much everyone started jumping to exciting conclusions.

I doubt that too many PS4 owners would object to a new God Of War game. They're always brutally good fun and can show off the power of Sony's new machine to advantage... but the series has already jumped the shark hard with its completed trilogy, tie-ins and sequels. We'd love to see a new setting and new pantheon of Gods to annihilate -- perhaps we could rampage through Egypt or Norse mythology -- not to mention a new protagonist. Sorry Kratos, but I think we're probably due a fresh face now. We're bored of your gurning mug now.

However, it's worth noting that a magnitude 3.8 Richer Scale quake was recorded in L.A. earlier today - so it's possible that Sony Santa Monica are trying (and failing) to be extremely pithy and topical.

Maybe. Either way, we'll find out in the wee small hours of next Monday morning.

Stay tuned for our outlandish E3 articles and predictions, which will be going live throughout the week. In the meantime, what would you like to see from Sony this year?

God of War: Ascension: Remastered? If nothing else, it can be pithily abbreviated to God of WAR

Great acronym, scarily plausible idea. Fingers crossed for anything BUT that.

#earthquake?

@Late: that'd be referencing the small L.A. earthquake earlier this morning. Only 3.8 Richter.

Gotcha - I hadn't heard.

Okay, now you've said that it's almost guaranteed to be God of War Collection Volume II for Vita

I'd love a Norse one. Egypt would be cool too but I think seeing all the Norse gods and likely the story of Ragnarok would be more interesting.
