Fans of the Soul Calibur series can pick up the fourth installment for only £11.95, with Zavvi channeling the warrior spirit and slicing the price in half!
According to a price-comparison, Zavvi's deal vanquishes its competitors and is the cheapest around. The deal is also eligible for free delivery. Since its release in the Summer of 2008, Soul Calibur IV has averaged 85/100 on MetaCritic, impressing critics with its well-honed gameplay mechanics, deep customisation system and robust online offerings. It received perfect scores from 1UP and Game Shark.
Soul Calibur IV includes five modes to enjoy: Story, Arcade, Training, Museum, and the all-new Tower of Lost Souls, where players must win battles to ascend the eponymous tower. In Story mode, players pick from the expansive roster and engage in a series of duels to reach their respective goals. Each fighter wields a different weapon or style, some favouring heavy axes and hammers, others thriving with katanas and circular blades. A new Soul Gauge and Critical Finish system, activated when the player has blocked a suitable amount of hits, allows them to perform a Critical Finish, killing their opponent instantly.
Soul Calibur tends to borrow well-known characters from other series and intergrate them into its roster, such as Link in the previous installment. IV's anomalous inclusions hail from a galaxy far, far away. Yoda, Darth Vader and the Force Unleashed's Apprentice, in all their Force-wielding, lightsaber glory, can battle the likes of Nightmare and Siegfried in IV, although Yoda and Darth Vader are exclusive to the 360 and PS3 respectively.
