Space Hulk Trailer Tells Us That Space Hulk Is Coming

Space Hulk is coming next year! And that's pretty much everything that we know from that trailer.

Full Control are beavering away on a turn-based strategy recreation of the classic Warhammer 40k boardgame, for release next year on PC, Mac, and iOS.

The official site does have a little more info, however, and here's the list of features from the official blurb:

  • Blood Angel terminator squad
  • Fearsome Genestealers with challenging AI
  • Thematic 3d environment
  • Single player campaign based on the "Sin of Damnation" hulk
  • New coop multiplayer levels against the Genestealer AI
  • Multiplayer head-to-head recreating the board game experience against a friend
  • Cross platform multiplayer between PC, Mac and iOS
  • Level editor with ability to share creations
  • Game expansions in the future as DLC

Some gameplay footage would be nice, though.

The original space hulk was pretty good fun. This could be interesting but I would need to see more.

I seem to recall the original being hard as nails.

I seem to remember a turn-based game that this reminds me of and I enjoyed (was quite similar to Julian Gollop's games, for which I've often and unabashedly expressed my deep love), but I think it was called Space Crusade. Possibly on the ps1, possibly older.
Anyone remember it? Is it related? Or is my memory addled?

I never did the warhammer board game thing and wasn't really into comics, so there could well be a lot I'm missing, here!

Actually, I'll just google it, to save myself some potential embarrassment, here...

That's the feller!
Blimey - Spectrum. Ah, the good ol' days.

I still have the original Space Hulk on PC released many many years ago. The atmosphere was great, 5 monitors to watch, a limited pause system made for some serious tense gaming. There was a feeling you (as a space marine squad) were always under-powered 1 mistake = total wipe.

Hopefully this new game will replicated this tension.

I never did the warhammer board game
They also did a Space Crusade board game. It was out at the same time as HeroQuest, which was even better, but fantasy based. Still loves me some HeroQuest, especially since you can just create your own maps.:D

I can go one better than that - I still have the original Space Crusade on my C64!

Awesome game, but I was too young at the time to have any real strategy. Other than get eaten a lot.
