If you've been waiting for NFS to get back to what racing should really be all about - you know...the racing - you might like to know that you can finally pick up the game for under a tenner...if you have an Xbox 360. The Game Collection is currently offering X360 versions of the game for just £9.95, saving you over £3 on HMV's price (£12.99), itself two quid away from the next cheapest.
Get ready for performance tweaking, a garage of over 60 cars and 19 tracks to choose from. This is by far and away the best NFS for petrolheads yet. The customisation options are all there, the singleplayer campaign has some real depth to it and the speed...well....once you've had a taste, you need some more.
Ultimately, though, racing games are getting a little similar these days - kudos to Split/Second and Blur for shaking things up a bit - and therefore quality is all a bit relative. Unfortunately, Need For Speed's pitch for seriousness has put it squarely in the same league as Forza 3, which is around the same price and offers a whole lot more bang for your buck. Unless you've clocked Turn 10's motoring masterpiece completely, I'm not sure why you'd go for this one.
