Activision is having another stab at the Spiderman franchise, with Shattered Dimensions' developers, Beenox, tapped for development duties on Spiderman: Edge of Time, which is pitched as a coming together of the Amazing and 2099 universes where Spidey must "correct a time-stream gone awry and prevent a catastrophic future brought on by the early and untimely death of Peter Parker".
According to Activision, Shattered Dimensions was considered by fans "one of the wall-crawler’s best Spider-Man games to date", and with Edge of Time they're looking to bring a "fresh and different approach to bring a fast-paced and high-octane adventure and unexpected story to life". As far as Spiderman games go, Shattered Dimensions was good, if a bit inconsistent and rough around the edges. Still, it's no Spiderman 2.
However, opting to focus on just two universes - the Amazing and 2099 sags - should put Beenox in a better position to deliver on their promises. However, I'm a little miffed to see the Noir universe being abandoned, as of all the eras in Shattered Dimensions it easily had the most promise.
