After several months of uncertainty, Ubisoft have confirmed that controversial sequel Splinter Cell: Blacklist will indeed release on Wii U alongside PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 23rd. As you'd expect, it will feature touchscreen and motion controls that take advantage of the GamePad peripheral.
"Showcasing enhanced game-play features using the Wii U GamePad controller, Tom Clancy 's Splinter Cell Blacklist allows players to operate innovative gadgets, take out enemies and move through the environment, and intuitively switch between weapons, among other features," gushes the accompanying PR blurb.
"The GamePad touch screen, along with motion-based inputs, are sure to immerse fans and gamers alike in this thrilling modern-day adventure."
Promises, promises. However, speaking of promises, it's worth noting that Splinter Cell: Blacklist is one of the most ambitious titles in the series to date, allowing players to complete wide and tall levels using any combination of tactical positioning, stealth and traditional gunplay.
