Hot on the heels of Marius' SC: C post yesterday for PC gamers, comes news that ShopTo has dropped the price on the Xbox 360 version of the game. Now cheaper than Zavvi's offer (including the voucher code discount) by over a pound, Gold and Silver ShopTo members can enjoy even further discounts thanks to £2 and £1 store credit respectively on this item only. The offer ends on Monday though, so get your skates on.
Sam Fisher is pretty angry: his daughter is gone, the company he used to work for are a bunch of backstabbing bastards and he's gone and lost his fancy green goggles. Cue a stealthy action game with a slightly different tone than the other games in the series. No longer the clean and spotless invisible assassin, Sam is more like the shadowy Angel of Death is this title. Rather than leaving no trace of his actions, now it's all about ramping up the fear factor and terrifying your adversaries.
With a host of co-operative levels, and a mini original campaign to play through with a chum, not to mention a bunch of multiplayer modes that recapture the 'classic' Splinter Cell feel, you don't really notice the brutally short length of the main story. I've got to say, I got a great little kick out of this game and the feeling of stealthy empowerment is excellent. From the excellent tag and execute mechanic to the brutal, context-sensitive interrogations, this is a Sam Fisher who's more engaged with the action, more direct, and far more threatening. And you know what? It might just be his best outing yet.
