Split/Second £22.99 @ Game/Gamestation [PS3/Xbox 360 Games]

If Burnout and Mario Kart ever got it on, this would most probably be the result. Slick, insanely speedy racing combined with environmental triggers and explosives traps to steal the lead from your mates at the last second and send them into apoplectic rage. Combining weapons and vehicles has led to some truly epic battles - most notably when my housemate once grabbed a Wavebird and attempted to beat victory out of me mid-race in retaliation for a blue shell - and Disney are on to a winner with this one too.

Game and Gamestation have dropped their low prices from last week even further, just as the competition managed to catch up, meaning you can still save £2 on the prices of Simply Games and Amazon, but now the lowest price is even lower at £22.99. Check out the avalanche of links below for more.

By far and away the best thing about this game is cackling with glee when you trigger the explosives underneath a dilapidated building and speed away as it comes crashing down upon your opponent. With that in mind, the decision to leave out four player splitscreen - especially considering the sizes of televisions these days - is frankly baffling. But Disney aren't the only ones. We can even forgive the annoyingly persistent AI racers who'll come from nowhere to snatch victory a la Mario Kart despite that perfect lap you just did because above all else, this game really is quite fun. Even on your own. Sure it has its flaws, and I certainly wouldn't have bought it at full price, but there's a lot to be said for a game that allows for such delicious pyrotechnical vengeance as this. Worth a look.

Looks more like Blue Thunder than Airwolf, imo... ;)
