The Xbox 360-exclusive shooter, Gun Loco, has been canceled by publishers Square Enix, who have so far declined to comment on the decision. Gun Loco had been due for release this year, and was described as 'sprint-action shooter', boasting both co-operative and multiplayer modes.
Set on an abandoned prison planet, Gun Loco put you in the speeding shoes of a range of escaped convicts who, in true videogame fashion, had to shoot their way off-world. Confirmed characters included Maddox, Nuts and Mifune, but with no meaningful information revealed on the game since its announcement - and what with it now being canceled - we have nothing else to go off.
The game sounded pretty promising, though, with its 'sprint-action' mantra allowing players to run and traverse the environment while shooting their gun, blending platforming and third-person shooting elements to joyous levels. The exact scale of the game was unclear, and it's possible it could have been an XBLA release. I suppose we'll never know now, though. [Eurogamer]
