Star Citizen Hits Kickstarter Goal

Less than $150,000 Short Of Overall Aim

The future continues to look bright for Chris Roberts and the team at Cloud Imperium, as it was announced via Twitter in the early hours of this morning that the Kickstarter campaign for Star Citizen has managed to hit its target with 26 days left on the clock. When combined with the crowd funding campaign on the Roberts Space Industries website, the over total comes to over $1.85 Million raised so far.

With a combined number of over 26,000 backers over both websites, the news has been greeted with celebration by the team at Cloud Imperium. Community Manager Ben Lesnik took to Twitter to exclaim that it was “onwards to $3 million!” and that new stretch goals and ship plans were coming in the near future. Chris Roberts had previous stated in an open letter before the announcement that “this project is going to happen and it will be about how much beyond this we can go”, so the fact that Star Citizen is fast approaching the $2 Million finish line should be the cherry on top of the Space Sim cake.
