Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels £11.44 @ Amazon [Wii Games]Despite the fact the reviewers didn’t think the force was particularly strong with Star Wars the Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels and described it as a bit of a mediocre effort, this is still a great price. The game is currently going for just £11.44 on Amazon which gives you a massive saving of over £6 compared with the next best deal from HMV where Star Wars the Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels is going for £17.99.

The game is basically a Jedi knight style beat-em-up where you choose one character from the Clone Wars film (these consist of Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, Dooku, Asaji Ventress, General Grievous, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Dooku, EG-O5 etc) and, wielding the Wii remote like your very own light sabre, battle it out against your opponent. Visually the game is actually quite decent - with sparks flying off the clashing light sabres and characters pulling off some good looking combos (just a shame about their irritating commentary!).

However most of the reviewers come down quite hard on Light Sabre Duels due to the fact that it is, in many ways, a dumbed down version of sabre duels featured in The Force Unleashed. However one of their biggest gripes against the game was regarding the control system which, sadly for Wii fans, doesn’t involve much more than vigorously shaking the remote. Fans looking for a more in depth Star Wars game would do better to look towards something like The Force Unleashed, but as a Christmas present for a young son or nephew, Sabre Duels is definitely worth a punt at this price.
