Starbreeze hit the headlines last week when their oft-rumored Syndicate reboot was finally announced. However, it appears the studio behind Butcher Bay and The Darkness have another project in the works; a new IP, no less. That's according to Eurogamer, who spoke to popular Swedish director Josef Fares who broke the news. Fares directed the celebrated Swedish film, Zozo, and has brought Swedish media outfit The Story Lab along with his Starbreeze project.
"I love games, and I have been working on a games concept for quite some time," Fares revealed to Eurogamer's Swedish outlet. "The more I worked with the concept, the more convinced I felt that this is a solid game idea." Fares recruited The Story Lab to help him pitch two prototypes to Starbreeze. "They liked the idea, and here we are now," he added.
Starbreeze was immediately taken by Fares' pitch, according to CEO Mikael Nermak. "Directly when Josef presented the idea, we understood that it's a very elaborate concept and that it can be a really great," he explained. "We started immediately doing sketches the very same day." The project is obviously very early, so we haven't even got a general idea of what sort of game it might be. However, we're excited.
First off, though, Starbreeze have to finish off their Syndicate reboot. It's an exciting sounding project, and we can't wait to get hands-on with it and their other projects. [Eurogamer]
