State of Decay Smashes The 500K Sales Barrier

Fastest-Selling Original Xbox LIVE Game

Ambitious open-world zombie-stomper -- State of Decay -- has passed half a million paid downloads since the game's release on Xbox LIVE on June 5th, a figure that Microsoft say makes it the "fastest selling original game ever on Xbox Live Arcade".

Here's what Jon had to say about the game in his review:

I've over-used the phrase "rough diamond" in years past, but now we have a new definition of the term. State Of Decay delivers one of the most authentic, compelling and enjoyable zombie experiences of recent years, and all for an eminently affordable budget price.

Indeed, you'll completely forget that we're all supposed to be bored of zombies by now. Outstanding.

State of Play is still something of a buggy mess, and Undead Labs have confirmed that they're working hard on a patch to fix all of the problems that the last patch threw up, but it's still one of the finest gaming experiences of the year. No, really.

The first patch rolled out, but caused more problems?
Damn.

Thoroughly enjoyed this game, and would recommend it to anyone - so long as they're not the type to get frustrated by niggling annoyances like clipping and pop-up.

I'm not sure how much time I put into my first playthrough. (You could power through it fast, but I enjoyed taking my time.) Probably spent around 20 hours on it. Will definitely replay it at least once or twice more - but I think I'll wait a while, and reduce my backlog of games a bit in the interim.
