Firefly Studios and 7sixty just love talking about Stronghold 3. We're excited too, and the new developer diary from lead programmer Matt Villiers sheds some light on the physics engine that will power the earth shattering, wall-destroying, peasant-flinging sieges. Castle building will also be much more intuitive and powerful than ever before.

A decade has passed since the first Stronghold title hit the shelves, and Firefly Studios are convinced that the upcoming third game in the series is going to make us remember why we fell in love with castles, fortifications and cow catapults back in the day. To illustrate, they'll be rolling out a series of developer diaries over the next few weeks - and we have the first episode lined up for you below.
Ever wondered how to build a mighty castle? What about charting the precise physics of ensuring a stone wall gets smashed to bits by trebuchet fire? Perhaps you’ve consider the exact angle a cow needs to be launched skywards from a catapult to crash back to Earth with a satisfying splat? You might just find the answer to a few of these questions after the break.Click here for the developer diary >>
