New Super Mario Bros Wii £30.19 @ Sainsburys [Wii Games]Although Matt’s already posted news of Sainsbury’s current 25% off various Nintendo Wii Products (which expires in just under a fortnight), we thought it might be worth taking the time to single out a few good’uns. And one deal in particular which has caught a few beady eyes over on HUKD is Sainsbury’s price for good old New Super Mario Brothers.

If you’re lucky enough to find any lining the shelves at your local branch you’ll be looking at a price of £26.24. However Sainsburys are also taking online orders which - with an additional £3.95 postage charge – means a brand new copy will set you back £30.19. This is still a good deal considering the next best price comes in at £32.79 according to price comparison.

Having resurrected the classic Mario Brothers format we all knew and loved so well from the ancient SNES, NSMB is a great title for wallowing in nostalgia. Although the game has had a slick new makeover, it essentially remains true to its 2D roots, and sees the player making their way through six unique game worlds on a quest to rescue princess Peach.

Leaping between precipices through lines of floating good coins and down onto moving platforms is just as adrenaline fuelled as you remember, although I personally found that it wasn’t long before NSMB was left collecting dust on a shelf after the initial novelty wore-off. Multiplayer does add an interesting new dimension, but ultimately, you can’t help but feel that Nintendo’s decision to revert back to the franchise’s 2D origins was slightly redundant when the series was progressing so nicely with titles like Mario Galaxy.
