Super Mario Galaxy 2 re-released on Wii U - only £8.99 this week

Wow, that was one hell of a Nintendo Direct. You can watch it here if you missed it, but one of the pieces of news sandwiched between the amazing tralers and announcements is that a number of Wii games are being re-released as Wii U downloads.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is one of these games, and it's available on the Wii U eShop now at £8.99 this week only. That's 50% off, so it might be worth picking up sooner rather than later. Thanks grooty!

Stay tuned for our full roundup and roundtable discussing today's Nintendo Direct!

My previous experience with Nintendo's online services tells me this is a daft question, but... is there any way of buying this via a web store without owning a Wii U?

Daft question ho ;)
But seriously currently no way of accessing the eshop without a 3ds(for the 3ds eshop) or a wii u(for the wii u eshop), no idea about the xbox live(never owned a xbox, 360 or xbone) but with the psn you couldn't access the store via the web until like a couple years back(I can't remember how long it's been).

Thanks for the reply Fowler. You've been able to buy from the web on XBox and PS for as long as I've owned either console, so I'm sure Nintendo will catch up eventually... just probably not in time for me to buy Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the cheap

As far as I know the browser marketplace is desperately incomplete. The US store supports it, but the UK store is full of holes, yet allows it for a limited number of games. That said, they might just email a code.

Just a code.
while I've not bought a digital download game from the nintendo store they had a sale the other year(several 3ds games for £8-£9 each and wii u games for a similar price) which I missed as I had to go out during the short period the sale was on for, the deal was posted over on hukd and it mentioned on that they were codes.

Thanks for the insight, fowler002! I suspected as much, but I hoped... well, beyond hope I suppose.

This really does need to get sorted. Even the OUYA lets you push downloads from the browser store now, and that's saying something.

You still have the OUYA hooked up, Jon?
I admire your perseverance!

I never did buy one in the end (mainly thanks to your advice, I think) but I'm pretty sure if I had it'd be in a drawer by now. It has it's uses but surely there's no USP keeping it plugged in that your other devices don't do as well or better?

Sorry. Thread derailment!
