Monsters Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS drops again to £18.99

We've seen it at £18.99 recently before it took a rather upsetting rise back up the monetary scale. We don't care though because it is definitely worth Base's £18.99 asking price twice over.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is utterly magnificent. Newfound vertical freedom, extraordinary new monsters and native 3DS multiplayer makes for the best game in the series to date, coupled with a much more compelling storyline and some killer new features.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 only £19.95 on Nintendo 3DS

£19.95 is an insanely cheap price for Luigi's Mansion 2 on the 3DS and also if I am to assume correctly the cheapest we have seen yet.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon sees the green sibling joining his brother in the lofty heights of puzzle-platforming excellence, though this is no Mario colour reskin. Instead Next Level have created a game made from Luigi's quivering, cartoonish, paranoid DNA, producing a game so stuffed with charm and character that it could make Scrooge beam. Nintendo E3 2015 Digital Event Reactions - delight or disaster?

Nintendo had a tough decision to make going into E3 2015. Should they go all-out on making the Wii U the ultimate exclusive machine, or should they siphon the biggest games away to the NX?

By the looks of it, Nintendo went for the latter, but at least they brought a few exciting things along nonetheless. Starting with nothing less than a Star Fox sequel from Platinum Games and Shigeru Miyamoto.

Carl and I sat down to analyse one of the most divisive Nintendo press conferences in years, which seems to have split the fanbase down the middle. Disaster? Treading water? Or fun on a bun? Let's get into this.

Nintendo E3 2015 Digital Event Reactions - delight or disaster?

Nintendo had one major objective today: announce Star Fox. Mission accomplished. Star Fox Zero looks like exactly what we want: the same rail shooting and All Range dogfighting with new features, mechs, vehicles and input from the maestros at Platinum Games. I think we can safely say that this will be in a fair few stockings come Christmas.

After which point, it has to be said, their event seriously lacked wow factor beyond the Muppet schtick, but showed off loads of really good wholesome stuff.

As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.

Street Fighter (3DS game)

All can be played on your new 3DS / 3DS XL

What's new about the 3DS?

New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL offer new customisation options, new speed, new controls, new 3D viewing and a whole new experience!

Better controls
ZL and ZR Buttons have been added next to the L and R Buttons, and a new C Stick can be found near the A, B, X and Y Buttons, expanding your control options. With these additions, it's easier than ever to surf the internet on your handheld, or take total control in a range of games.

Controls that were previously only available on the separate Circle Pad Pro are integrated into the console – perfect for playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on-the-go! Surfing on the internet is made easy by using the ZL/ZR Buttons to switch between tabs, and you can zoom into the page by using the C Stick.

Enhanced processing power
Improved CPU performance also allows for faster loading of applications such as Miiverse. We're planning to release dedicated software for New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL that utilises the improved performance of the new CPU. Some upcoming New Nintendo 3DS software will enable improved graphics and gameplay on New Nintendo 3DS.

NFC function for amiibo-compatible software
Power up your gameplay with amiibo: interactive figures that utilise near-field communication (NFC) to enhance your games in surprising new ways! New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL have an area on the bottom screen with NFC reading and writing functions built-in, so you can enjoy playing with amiibo in compatible software!

More comfortable 3D viewing
The super-stable 3D function allows the system to recognise your face using the inner camera, automatically adjusting the angle – even if you move a lot during gameplay – to give the best possible 3D experience. Please note: the 3D effect may differ between users. Viewing of 3D images by children aged six and under may cause vision damage, so please use Parental Controls to restrict the display of 3D images.

Customise your system
Just like on other Nintendo 3DS family systems, on New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL you can customise the interior of your system with HOME Menu themes! There are lots of designs available to purchase from the Theme Shop, including designs featuring Mario, Zelda and more. Some themes even have unique background music and sound effects!

Change cover plates
On New Nintendo 3DS only, you can customise the exterior design of your system with replaceable cover plates! Cover plates come as sets of front and back plates, in a variety of different designs and fun textures. Swap them out whenever you please, and combine different front and back plates for a totally unique look!

Play all of your current Nintendo 3DS games
New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL are compatible with all current Nintendo 3DS software. Software and data from your current Nintendo 3DS system can be transferred to New Nintendo 3DS systems.

Play your favourite Nintendo DS games
Don't worry about losing your current Nintendo DS games when you upgrade: almost all existing Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games can be played on a New Nintendo 3DS system in 2D. With backward compatibility, you can keep playing your favourite existing Nintendo DS games.

IMPROVED FEATURES

Upgraded camera functionality - You can take better pictures under dim lighting conditions.
microSD card data transfer - Using wireless LAN, you can transfer data directly to and from your PC. If you have a PC that is connected to the same wireless LAN as the New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL, you can transfer your pictures and music without removing the microSD card.
Automatic brightness adjustment - Automatic brightness adjustment optimises your settings to offer the best view for your current surroundings. This offers extended battery life compared to the original Nintendo 3DS systems.
Watch videos online - Enjoy videos online using the Internet Browser installed on the console.

More Tesco clearance madness: Coral Pink 3DS & Nintendogs spotted for £49 in-store!

Tesco's mad clearance bargains show no signs of stopping. HUKD member ollie11811 discovered that a brand new coral pink 3DS with Nintendogs cost only £49 at checkout, seriously impressive since the solus console costs £79.00 by itself on Tesco Direct.

So it might be worth stopping into your local Tesco and visiting the hardware or electronics department. You might not find anything -- certainly my locals didn't have anything particularly tasty for me -- but there are still some utterly insane deals out there! Let us know if you've recently grabbed an in-store bargain.

Nintendo details New 3DS system transfer process (and it's ridiculous)

Upgrading from an old 3DS or 3DS XL to a New 3DS or New 3DS XL this week? Awesome. So are we.

But there's a good chance that you'll have to transfer your digital games and data over from the old model first. Since the New 3DS only supports MicroSD cards, you can't just swap your SD card over, meaning that you'll have to jump through a few hoops first. As explained in the helpful new video above.

If you're only planning on transferring a few games and files over, you can let the automated process sort everything out via Wi-Fi! Sadly its transfer rate is an abysmal 2GB/hour, so if like me you've got near enough 20GB of data to move, you'll need a Size Zero Phillips screwdriver at the ready!

At least pre-installed games will be available to re-download.

There's still time to get yourself a cheap New 3DS bundle deal or New 3DS XL bargain. Check out our last-minute New 3DS buyer's guide for all the smartest savings!

Looking to buy a New Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL? Well, Zavvi are offering a range of bundles for pre-order on both SKUs:

Remember, these units won't come with a mains charging cable because Nintendo make terrible, unfathomable business decisions are super desperate to save pennies wherever they can. You'll need one even with the cradle as the cradle is just.. well.. it's just a cradle, you'll still need to buy the cable that plugs into the wall separately. But you can buy one from Argos for £6.99. Cheers allgonewrong.

Nintendo Direct 2PM GMT tomorrow - "new announcements" promised

Nintendo have officially announced that their first Nintendo Direct presentation of the year will kick off tomorrow at 2PM GMT, with a bunch of "new announcements" promised. Does that mean a date for the New 3DS here in Europe? We damn well hope so. New games? Yes please, that'd be nice too.

NB. Remember to use the voucher code JANOFFER25 to get it at this price.

Yep, we're going to be making the most of those Rakuten voucher codes today. But this is a very fine price for a very fine handheld. If you're not too bothered about shelling out double the price for a New 3DS, then this is a good way of getting into 3DS gaming right now, though rumours suggest Nintendo have discontinued the old model, meaning we might see this older version go even lower in the coming weeks.

Then again, there's no time like the present. Cheers FantasyDeals.

Forget the Ambassador fiasco, how come the New 3DS still won't come with a power cable?

Forget the Ambassador fiasco, how come the New 3DS still won't come with a power cable?

A warning... this is one of those situations where a comment on another site ballooned out of all proportion, and before I knew it, what had been a ranty little paragraph about something relatively minor became, well, this. It's also probably a bit late, but frankly that just makes the fact that Nintendo haven't rectified their bizarre thinking even more profoundly irritating.

Can you imagine buying a PS4 or Xbox One, getting home, opening the box in feverish excitement, and finding out that there are no power cables. Now, let's be fair, when it comes to the PSN, you still might not be able to play the stuff you want (cheap shot, I know) but you'd be absolutely outraged, right?

That's basically what Nintendo has been doing with the 3DS for some time, and it's a strategy that they're continuing with the New model, foregoing including that essential cable in the box, and instead making you pay for it separately. If you remember, that is. Stores don't exactly emblazon the fact that adaptors aren't included on a consistent basis.

There is a reason, though, and that reason is apparently altruistic in intent: that is, Nintendo didn't want to pack-in something that they felt people probably already had.
